A Polaris Dealer Helps ATV Drivers Race Perform Stunts

Fun Facts from Your Polaris Dealer: ATV World Records

Stuntmen and stuntwomen are renowned worldwide for their ability to perform death-defying acts. When it comes to stunts on wheeled vehicles, the most famous is Evel Knievel, whose motorcycle stunts mesmerized the world in the 70s and 80s.

But what about stunts on four wheelers? With the rise in popularity of ATVs, came the rise in stunt creativity.  As ATV sales soared, so did the desire of riders to compete, by racing and through stunt performance.Polaris dealer S&H Farm Supply, experienced an increase in not only ATV sales but also in the associated Polaris parts to ‘beef up’ stock Polaris machines to handle stunt riding.

Various ATV stunt records have now been established through the years, according to the Guinness Book of World Records. Here is a sampling:

The Largest Quad Bike or ATV Parade was organized by the Rocky Mountain ATV Jamboree, as well as the local Polaris dealer, and held on September 16, 2009, in Richfield, Utah. Interestingly, while 1,927 machines started the parade, only 1,870 finished, still setting a record.

Travis Pastrana performed the fastest side wheelie in an ATV at 47 mph on November 18, 2008. This stunt occurred at the Miller Motorsports Park in Utah, as part of MTV’s “Nitro Circus.”

Travis Pastrana also set the record for the fastest time to do ten donuts on an ATV during the same filming for the “Nitro Circus,” performing his donuts in 15.59 seconds.

On August 10, 2010, the Quad Squad Expedition Team, with Australian team members James Kenyon, Ted Davant, and Valerio De Simoni, commenced on a journey that set a new record for the Longest Journey on a Quad Bike. Beginning in Istanbul, Turkey, the trio traveled for 437 days 19 hours and 9 minutes, arriving in Sydney, Australia after a 34,945-mile journey, passing through 37 countries. Europe’s leading Polaris dealer helped sponsor the event.

In the spirit of Evel Knievel, the longest ramp jump on a quad bike was performed by Jon Guetter of the US on March 29,2008. This jump was made during the Crusty Demons Night of World Records, held at Calder Park Raceway in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
