Follow these steps to plug your Polaris Sportsman ATV tire.

There’s no better way to spend a Saturday afternoon than enjoying a scenic ride through the Ozarks countryside on your Polaris Sportsman ATV. The superior handling and power of the Polaris 570 delivers a smooth, comfortable riding experience, even as you conquer the most rugged terrain. Durable and dependable, your Polaris Sportsman can rise to most challenges, but a flat tire isn’t one of them. Few things can derail your ATV adventure as quickly as a punctured tire, but luckily, the repair is not a difficult one. Just follow these easy steps and you’ll be off-roading again in no time.

A blowout can occur any time, anywhere, so it’s important to be prepared. Make sure you have a tire plug kit onboard at all times. Available at most Polaris Sportsman dealers such as S&H Farm Supply, the kit includes all the tools, plugs and patches necessary to re-inflate and fix your tire.

Three Steps to Repairing Your Polaris Sportsman Tire

You must first locate the site of the puncture in your Polaris Sportsman tire and prepare it for plugging. Your tire plug kit includes a reaming tool you can use to widen the hole and perforate the perimeter, ensuring the plug will fit properly and remain in place.

Secondly, select a rubber plug from your Polaris Sportsman tire plug kit and center it evenly in the accompanying installer tool. Then, coat the plug with the rubber cement or other adhesive material from your kit. This will help seal the plug once it is inserted.

Finally, insert the tip of the installer tool into the puncture site. Perform this action slowly, taking care not to push the plug all the way into the tire. Ideally, about half of the plug should still be visible. If more than half the plug protrudes from the tire, you can use a knife to pare it down.

Once you have removed the installer tool, just sit back for a few minutes and wait for the adhesive material to dry. Once the plug is securely sealed in place, you’ll be ready to climb back on your Polaris Sportsman ATV and hit the trail again.

As long as you have the proper repair kit, there’s no reason a punctured tire should put a damper on your off-road recreation. Simply make sure you have a well-stocked kit onboard your Polaris Sportsman, and you will be prepared for whatever your all-terrain adventure throws at you.
